چکیده

Radioactive phosphorus (P32) was injected into normal and cholesterol-fed rabbits. A marked derangement of aortic phospholipid metabolism was found in the cholesterol-fed animals. The phospholipid found in the atheromatous aortas appeared to have been synthesized by the aorta itself rather than to have been deposited there from the plasma. T HE etiology of atheromatosis has been explored from different points of view." 2,3 Blood cholesterol has been investigated intensively and found elevated in a portion of the patients and in all experimental animals developing this condition. Plasma phospholipids are usually elevated when the cholesterol level is high. Some workers, however, have related the increased cholesterol-phospholipid ratio to the development of atheromata. More recently attention has been focused on "physical hyperlipemia," that is, the presence of abnormal lipoproteins and exaggerated chylomicronemia in the plasma of atherosclerotics. The increased cholesterol and phospholipid content of the atheromatous aorta was noted

Sphingomyelin and other phospholipid metabolism in the rabbit atheromatous and normal aorta.

Hypercholesterolemia induces atheroma formation, and the concentration of sphingomyelin is increased compared with that in the normal aortic intima-media. The aortic intima-media sphingomyelin concentration appears to increase exponentially with time on the cholesterol diet. Moreover, the entry rate of serum sphingomyelin into the aortic wall also appears to increase exponentially with time on ...

A Rare Variation of Right Subclavian Artery Origin from Posterior Surface of Aortic Arch

Purpose: Several variations of aortic arch have been reported yet. In present study another variation of aortic arch was reported. Right subclavian artery arises from posterior surface of the distal end of the aortic arch. Case Report: we present a variation of an aorticarch in which right subclavian artery arisesfrom posterior surface of the distal end of the aortic arch and passing behind eso...

Aortic Dissection of Unknown Origin in a Young Patient: A Case Report

Aortic dissection occurs when a tear develops in the wall of the aorta, which is rare in the young population. This fatal disorder is hard to diagnose, especially in young patients. We present the case of aortic dissection in a 15-year-old boy referred to the Emergency Department of Yazd University of Medical Sciences in November 2015. The patient presented to our department with sudden acute c...

A Case Report of Variant Origin of Left Vertebral Artery from Aortic Arch and its Embryological Explanation

Vertebral artery is the first branch of subclavian artery. It merges with the same artery of the opposite side to form basilar artery and becomes one of the important source of blood supply to the brain. Variation in the origin of left vertebral artery was found in 65 year old female during magnetic resonance angiography of the neck vessels. It originated from aortic arch and was longer as ...

Ischemic acute pancreatitis with pancreatic pseudocyst in a patient with abdominal aortic aneurysm and generalized atheromatosis – case report

BACKGROUND Ischemic pancreatitis is a rare medical entity. The pancreatic tissue is susceptible to ischemia with the possibility of developing acute pancreatitis. The abdominal aortic aneurysm can be one possible cause of pancreatic hypoperfusion. CASE PRESENTATION We report the case of a 68-year-old man, Caucasian, with a history of a cluster of severe cardiovascular conditions, who presente...
